Delta Star, Inc., a leading transformer manufacturing company is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Level 2 Field Service Technician in the western section of the country. The job duties will include the assembly, vacuum oil fill, testing, and maintenance of transformers manufactured by Delta Star, Inc. and other OEM brands under the guidance our Lead and or Senior Field Service Technician.  The primary work setting will be outdoors and will be accomplished during all climatic conditions.  Tasks may require moderate to heavy amounts of physical effort and an understanding that electrical safety hazards may exist. Responsibilities: Perform hands-on assembly, repairs, and maintenance to transformers and our service equipment with limited oversight from our senior and or lead field service technicians.  This would include mechanical and electrical connections on or inside the transformer. Proactively support the team during maintenance services so that all tasks are completed safely, timely, and with the upmost quality. Operate the oil processor and make standard transformer test connections with limited guidance from our senior and or lead field service technicians.  Assist other technicians with general equipment maintenance and restocking supplies.    Review project itinerary, work scope, and drawings prior to arriving onsite for a clear understanding of the requirements.  Maintain your bi-monthly timesheets and weekly expense reports for a timely submittal. Experience in power transformer testing. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in power transformer design or test. Familiarity with power transformer design and test or in a related field. Knowledge of ANSI/IEEE/IEC standards as they relate to transformer testing.  Working Conditions: Power transformer manufacturing environment and customer site. Work in energized high voltage area.  Equipment Used:  Computer and equipment to test transformers.   Detailed Job Description:    Lead daily testing of transformers and controls.  Ensure ongoing adherence to internal and external standards.  Troubleshoot and diagnose problems.  Utilize PC and necessary hand calculations to prepare files and forms for transformer test and draft Certified Test Reports. Prepare detailed test plans for scheduled transformers based on input from the customer specification, test specification, nameplate, control drawings, standards, equipment instruction manuals and work instructions. Interface with engineering as necessary for clarifications or to obtain additional information. Represent the test department in a professional manner. Maintain & Repair test equipment as necessary.  Ensure equipment is calibrated and schedule upcoming calibrations.  Monitor condition of test equipment and test fixtures. Recognize opportunities for improvement and take action. Ensure engineering changes are acted upon as required and communicate non-conformance's via quality assurance department. Provide work leadership and train test technicians.  Teach equipment setup, connections, principles of operation, maintenance, and diagnostics. Involvement of commissioning and testing of mobile substations.
