Pickering Laboratories, a manufacturer of instruments and chemistry for environmental, clinical and consumer product testing markets, seeks an experienced, enthusiastic manager with a track record of managing successful teams. As a small but long-tenured company, our Production Manager needs to both lead a production crew of flexible, experienced employees and work within the management team to collaborate on company growth and interdepartmental issues. Our ideal candidate has excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to execute deliverable action items through independent, motivated and responsible work habits. The Production Manager position is responsible for the oversight and total operation of the Production Department by ensuring efficient and timely production and delivery of goods for our valued customers. This position forecasts workflow according to existing inventory, customer needs and availability of personnel. Manager is also responsible for overseeing inventory management, delivering high quality finished products, and keeping staff working at capacity. The Production Manager is accountable for department performance and meets monthly with the Director of Operations as well as prepares a departmental report annually. Qualified candidates will have a required minimum of three (3) years successful and effective management experience; experience with a manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Educational degree or certification in a manufacturing or management related field favorably considered. A combination of education and/or experience will be considered. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment on a variety of projects and use individual discretion/ judgement to meet required objectives and deadlines. Exceptional written/verbal communication and math skills necessary. Computer skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel required. ERP/MRP software experience is a plus. Excellence in ability to document work and maintain accurate records is essential. Must be able to multitask effectively and prioritize time-sensitive projects in order to coordinate the workload for manufacturing, packaging and shipping groups. Management requirements additionally include ownership of department performance, compassionate communication with staff through active listening, and working with Director of Operations to manage staff performance.
