Reports to Director of Impact

Committee for Green Foothills protects the open space, farmland, and natural resources of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties through advocacy, education, and grassroots action. We were founded in 1962 by people who wanted to protect peninsula hillsides from sprawl. The Marketing Manager is responsible for creating and leading data-driven marketing campaigns with our staff and consultants to build momentum and community support for our advocacy, education, and fundraising goals. You will work in partnership with the Board and staff to
1. Systematically strengthen the structure and sustainability of the organization through diversification of our membership, fundraising, advocacy and communication strategies
2. Identify, design, and implement the communications activities needed to meet our annual advocacy and fundraising goals. This includes but is not limited to the year-end appeal, spring appeal, annual report, donor acknowledgement letters, website, blog, social media, email campaigns, and newsletters

Responsibilities

Strategy, planning, evaluation of marketing program (40%)
• Manage all marketing strategies and systems – both print and online – to grow the organization, continuously evaluating progress towards goals
• In collaboration with Director of Impact, develop our marketing strategy and marketing plan
• Manage Protect Coyote Valley marketing, implementation supported by other staff
• Provide monthly and quarterly reporting on KPIs set by the organization and campaign coalitions
• Manage the staff Marketing Huddle to provide direction, mentoring, and evaluation for your team

Community outreach, education, and fund development (10%)
• Develop relationships with key media representatives and work with them to get press coverage on advocacy issues and key decision points as needed
• Ensure communications connect with current and future members

Design and Creative Development (40%)
• Manage the development and design of all printed and online materials and assets in line with the brand guidelines and marketing goals of the project. This includes print, email, and web assets (e.g. newsletters, eNewsletters, social media, website banners, digital ads, and SEO)
• Lead bi-annual newsletter and annual report production and distribution
• Source, customize and create content that can be used in assets across channels to keep organizational brand relevant, valuable, and inspiring for end users we seek to engage. Content will include video, photography, graphic design, copy and more
• Manage project timelines, budget, approval process, and final execution, with input and buy-in
• Manage any website for the organization and campaigns by publishing content, maintaining continuity of themes, designing layout, streamlining navigation, and increasing online presence

Administrative and Positive Work Environment (10%)
• Maintain a culture of teamwork and shared responsibility that attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse and high-caliber staff and Board motivated to achieve CGF’s mission
• Attend and support Board and committee meetings, prepare materials as required for meetings and monthly Board Reports
• Maintain and submit accurate timesheets and expense reports,
• With manager, identify key professional development and performance improvement opportunities

About you
• Passionate about the mission of Committee for Green Foothills
• An excellent problem solver, have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
• Experience running robust email campaigns through an ESP (email service provider), managing relationships with external vendors, crafting engaging and creative content for multiple social media platforms, working knowledge of web design and user experience, and SEO
• Experience managing online campaigns on the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google platforms and understand the nuances of effective content delivery on each platform
• A good project manager capable of managing multiple projects concurrently, meeting project deadlines, and communicating to keep a dispersed team apprised of project status
• Can provide specific examples of how you have grown social media engagement and managed successful email campaigns. Examples from policy/advocacy campaigns are preferred
• Familiar with the basics of website/webpage maintenance and have worked with web page editors to some extent. Experience with WordPress is a plus
• Experience running robust email marketing campaigns through an ESP (email service provider), managing relationships with external vendors, growing and nurturing online communities, crafting engaging and creative content for multiple social media platforms, working knowledge of web design and user experience, and experience in SEO/SEM (search engine optimization/search engine marketing)
• Spanish/ Vietnamese fluency a plus. Flexible to work on some evenings and weekends

Compensation and Benefits: $49,000-$54,000/year, comprehensive medical and 401k package, $500 professional development budget annually, one day of remote work weekly, casual dress code, pet-friendly office.
