Committee for Green Foothills (Palo Alto, CA) Reports to Executive Director

Committee for Green Foothills ​protects the open space, farmland, and natural resources of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties through advocacy, education, and grassroots action. We were founded in 1962 by people who wanted to protect peninsula hillsides from sprawl. Today we serve as the premier champion for the coast, forests, bay, farmland, creeks, hillsides, and parks of our region. The ​Development Manager ​leads all fundraising campaigns, both online and printed. You will work in partnership with the Board and staff to
1. Systematically strengthen the structure and sustainability of the organization through deepening our membership and fundraising strategies including annual appeal campaigns, online giving, and legacy giving
2. Identify, design, and implement the communications activities needed to meet our fundraising goals. This includes but is not limited to the year-end appeal, spring appeal, annual report, donor acknowledgement letters, website, and blog

Development strategy, planning, evaluation (70%)
● Manage membership recruitment and retention program for donors, with the goal of increasing the number of individual members by at least 10% annually (retain 800 donors, and recruit about 100 additional new members/year)
● Manage legacy giving program, increasing individuals giving at this membership level by a minimum of 10% annually (retain 50 legacy members and recruit about 5-10 new members/year)
● Play a leadership role in the solicitation of individual and corporate sponsorship and ticket sales for our annual celebration, Nature’s Inspiration, with the goal of raising $230K annually
● Lead all mailed and online fundraising campaigns (two campaigns per year); successfully involve board and staff in fundraising activities
● With Director of Impact and potentially a grant consultant, produce compelling, accurate, and timely funding proposals and reports to foundations    
● Produce quarterly Development Department Reports to Board of Directors

Community outreach, education, and advocacy (20%)
● Support communications with our mailing lists via MailChimp email service
● Create weekly blog posts for Green Foothills

Fiscal soundness (5%)
● Support weekly reconciliation of DonorSnap system with Finance Manager and Outreach and Administrative Associate
● Support the Finance Committee as needed

Administrative and Positive Work Environment (5%)
● Support the organizational culture
● Attend and support Board and committee meetings
● Maintain and submit accurate timesheets and expense reports
● With manager, identify key professional development and performance improvement opportunities
● Submit quarterly expense report to Executive Director and Finance Manager

About you
● Passionate about the mission of Committee for Green Foothills
● Excellent problem solver, have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
● Detail-oriented with excellent editing/proofreading skills. Ability to produce error-free work
● A masterful organizer and can manage many activities at once
● Have 3+ years in nonprofit development and fundraising, ideally including legacy giving, mailed appeals, online giving, sustaining membership, and grants
● Acquire technology skills with ease, proficient working with PC computers, Microsoft Office (mail merge), and Google platforms
● Capable of efficiently managing your time in order to complete multiple tasks
● Spanish or Vietnamese written and verbal fluency a plus
● Flexible to work on some evenings and weekends

Compensation and Benefits​: ​$49,000-$54,000/year, comprehensive medical and 401k package, $500 professional development budget annually, one day of remote work weekly, casual dress code, pet friendly office.
