Engineering Division – Land Development

 A current (dated within the last 30 days) Department of Motor Vehicles Record printout is required for this position at time of application. You can obtain a copy of your driving record at the DMV website at The DMV Record must be submitted at time of application.  

A paid intern position is available with the Engineering Division – Land Development Section. Candidates will also be considered for open intern positions with the Engineering Division – Special Projects Section and Division of Traffic and Transportation. The position is an excellent part-time opportunity for a College Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student wishing to obtain work experience in the Civil Engineering field. This internship will involve both field and office work. 


Enrichment Opportunities

  •  Learn basic principles and practices of civil engineering as related to land development, including the California Subdivision Map Act.
  • Gain work experience and insight into local government work specific to your area of interest and educational background.
  • Assist City staff on review of development projects, including design and construction inspection.

Hours: Hours are flexible; a minimum of 20 hours per week is highly desired with a maximum of 25 hours per week. The selected candidate for this position will work under the supervision of a higher-level supervisor on weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
