The current opening supports the City’s business license tax program in the Finance Department. Job responsibilities include data entry, calculation of tax, penalties and interest in accordance with the Municipal Code, maintenance of the business license database, posting daily cash receipts, creating journal vouchers, reviewing account adjustments, account reconciliation, and researching and resolving discrepancies. This position will be responsible for the City’s business tax audit program, and the ideal candidate will possess strong data analysis and customer service skills. This position is very fast paced, and requires a high level of interaction with other departments and external customers. Excellent verbal and written customer service skills are required. A high level of attention to detail is imperative for success in this position. Under general direction, performs complex clerical duties related to major or specialized areas such as accounting, reconciliation, billing, auditing, and/or collections support functions; performs tasks related to the day-to-day operations of the assigned area including verifying and coding financial data, processing and tracking data, and answering questions; and performs related work as required.
Requires: Graduation from high school or tested equivalent; AND Three years of progressively responsible technical accounting support experience, with at least two years specific to assigned functional area, including automated financial systems.
