Job Description

The Department of Human Resources is developing citywide initiatives that have positive impacts throughout the organization. The Department has developed succession planning, employee wellness and employee engagement initiatives to support positive organizational advancement for the City of Sunnyvale. We are currently recruiting for the position of Human Resources Manager - Employee Relations/Employee Development. Under administrative direction of the Human Resources Director, the incumbent is primarily responsible for administering human resources policies and procedures, interpreting memoranda of understanding, and providing counsel regarding employee relations and organizational development matters, including performance evaluations, grievance and disciplinary investigations, and negotiation preparation.  The Human Resources Manager is also responsible managing for the Citywide Employee Training Program. Additionally, the City of Sunnyvale:

  • contributes 4% of the 7% employee contribution to CalPERS for classic members;
  • contributes 2% of an employee's gross pay to a deferred compensation plan, and
  • provides fully employer paid medical, dental, and vision benefits.
