Founded in 1974, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is one of the largest food banks in the nation and a trusted nonprofit leader in ending local hunger. The organization distributes nutritious groceries through a network of more than 300 partners at drive-thru and walk-up sites across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Due to the prohibitively expensive cost of living in Silicon Valley and the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, hunger is at an all-time high. Second Harvest is now serving an average of 500,000 people every month, twice as many people as it reached pre-pandemic. Second Harvest also connects people to federal nutrition programs and other food resources, and advocates for anti-hunger policies on the local, state and national levels. About the Position

In this role, you will be responsible for making sure everyone who needs a healthy meal in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties can find a program or service that meets their needs. This requires a deep understanding of our clients, who come from many diverse backgrounds and situations. You will make sure Second Harvest is offering the services clients need and will use effective communication to make sure clients know these services are available and are willing to get them. You will draw on best-in-class marketing practices to ultimately improve the lives of the hundreds of thousands of people we serve.

  • Drive the creation and adoption of a client segmentation strategy
  • Lead development of a service portfolio roadmap that delivers on Second Harvests strategy, based on client segmentation, market size, client needs and available resources.
  • Develop and execute a strategic client communication plan for the range of Second Harvest services, including free grocery distributions, CalFresh and kids meals.
  • Help guide development of Second Harvests Community Outreach Network, a network of partners who work together to connect clients to nutritious food resources
  • Develop and maintain a measurement strategy and tools that are used to drive business decisions and assess progress against Client Marketing efforts
  • Lead projects and influence teams to deliver on Client Marketing priorities
  • Lead marketing communication execution, in collaboration with the Second Harvest Marketing team

The ideal candidate will possess the following professional qualifications:

  • Demonstrated marketing expertise
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to build relationships throughout the organization
  • Credible presence and professional presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate with staff at all levels with strong written skills and attention to detail
  • Strong facilitation and project management skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving/resolution skills
  • Six to eight years of experience in related roles required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, MBA or equivalent experience a plus

Salary commensurate with background and experience. Outstanding and generous health benefits program, Flexible Time Off (FTO) starting at 200 hours per year, ten paid holidays, and retirement plan.
