Job Description

Description

Mitra Chem is a Silicon Valley startup working at the intersection of machine learning and battery development. We live at the cutting-edge of battery technology and aim to deliver world-class materials for the EV market within the next few years. Our goal is to be the first lithium-ion battery materials manufacturer to shorten the lab-to-production timeline by >90% through accelerated R&D and vertically integrated process optimization. We will first focus on Li-ion battery cathodes, converting them from commodity chemicals into a product platform, customized for different applications. We are setting up a state-of-the-art 10,000 sq ft industrial R&D center (located on the San Francisco Peninsula). Join our team to be a part of the growing battery revolution.

We are looking for a talented Business Development team member to craft and execute our commercial strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Execute long-term commercial strategy towards non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), joint development agreements (JDAs), and take-or-pay sales contracts.
  • Determine customer segments to target with Mitra Chem core products, assess customer’s unique needs/requirements, and inform the technical roadmap accordingly.
  • Manage information flow between multiple stakeholders: customer technical/commercial team, and internal Mitra Chem stakeholders.
  • Bridge the gap between the technical and commercial sides of the business. The ideal candidate would be described as being “the most technical person in a room of business-people, and the most business-savvy person in a room of technical people.”

Qualifications

  • Background in lithium-ion batteries, chemicals, or industrial applications is preferred.
  • Experience in basic financial modeling.
  • Understanding of corporate development and sales processes.
  • Track record in managing cross-functional supplier/customer teams.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, scrappiness and ability to interact with other functions in a cross-disciplinary environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally ~20% of the time.
