POSITION PURPOSE:
To lead and participate in the design and development of software, FPGA firmware and digital hardware for the purpose of controlling DC and RF power delivery systems. This position requires significant communication with customers, including the determination of requirements and specifications as they relate to the control of power delivery systems. This position operates independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly technical environment and works on multiple cross-functional projects. The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and have a deep understanding of digital hardware design, embedded microprocessor/DSP design, and FPGA design
POSITION DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Create new technology initiatives (in the area of FPGA based embedded systems) and provide technical leadership on critical projects
Demonstrate project leadership skills in the area of FPGA embedded systems; including cost, feature, and timeline tradeoffs
Interface with customers to determine and develop specifications
Produce design documentation when required
Participate in firmware design reviews and recommend improvements
Design, implement, troubleshoot and support control system electronics/software for DC and RF power delivery systems and/or subsystems (i.e. high-power switching circuits)
Develop models for simulations to analyze transient behavior of power delivery systems
Develop electrical hardware and software designs that meet various technical, financial, geometric and other design constraints using some combination of modeling, simulation, prototyping, testing, analysis, etc.
Communicate effectively, in both oral and written format, critical technical information regarding electronic and firmware system design and performance
Interface with engineering and other cross-functional teams as required
Analyze and troubleshoot application issues in a timely fashion, often at a customer site
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
BS in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of experience or MS in Electrical Engineering and 7+ years of experience
Experience with hardware/software design/development
Experienced in designing complex RF digital control systems
High degree of proficiency in signal processing techniques and digital filter design
High degree of proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, HDL Coder, Stateflow and Xilinx System Generator
Experienced in modeling, simulating, implementing and verifying product design using Xilinx Vivado, Aldec ActiveHDL, and Xilinx ChipScope tools
High degree of proficiency in VHDL
Experience with configuration management tools (Perforce desired)
Experience with Atlassian tools desired (Jira, Confluence)
Hands on laboratory experience is critical and required, specifically with spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MIMO control experience highly desirable
Proficiency in Verilog
Experience with softcore processors within FPGAs (Xilinx Microblaze or Xilinx Picoblaze)
Experience with FPGA synthesis, mapping to target FPGA devices and timing analysis preferred
OTHER INFORMATION:
Ability to support last-minute travel
Occasional work hour flexibility to accommodate international conferencing and deadlines
