Job Description

This position is responsible for accurate accounting of leases under the new lease accounting standard, reconciliation and analysis of various general ledger accounts, and assisting with the month-end financial close process and financial reporting. This position will also provide support to property accounting functions including capital expenditure projects reporting and timely close of the capital projects in accordance with the company capitalization policy and assist with process improvements. Candidates may choose to work from home 2-3 days a week after a 3-month training period. 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Review new leases, modifications/amendments and lease options for key terms and assess various lease clauses for appropriate accounting treatment.
  2. Maintain lease accounting schedule and ensure accuracy and completeness of the recurring costs and lease terms set up in the lease management software.
  3. Review lease detail and lease portfolio report for accuracy and perform reconciliation and analysis of various general ledger accounts to ensure accurate accounting of leases under ASC 842.
  4. Support month-end close process, including journal entry preparation, account analysis, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations as assigned.
  5. Assist with fixed assets management function and ensure timely close of the capital projects in accordance with the company capitalization policy.
  6. Assist with the monthly variance analysis report including commentary of actual results vs prior period.
  7. Assist with the preparation of governmental and regulatory census forms.
  8. Work on initiatives to improve operational accounting efficiencies through process improvement and automation.
  9. Works with the Business Analyst to troubleshoot issues with the ERP system.
  10. Assist in various special projects as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 3+ years general accounting experience. Fixed assets and lease accounting experience is a plus.
  2. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including creating/maintaining templates, Pivot Tables, V-lookups).
  3. Experience using ERP systems, preferably Workday Financial Management and Tango Lease Management software.
  4. Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC842.
  5. Demonstrate great attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  6. Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  7. Able to work with minimal direction in a highly collaborative manner to meet required deadlines and perform all necessary tasks.
  8. Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects.
  9. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
