Under general supervision of the administrator, to perform a variety of general custodial tasks at an assigned District facility.
1. Works from a prepared work schedule.
2. Sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes linoleum and wood floors.
3. Sweeps and washes concrete and tile.
4. Vacuums rugs and carpets in school building offices and rooms.
5. Cleans and dusts walls, furniture, woodwork, and other equipment.
6. Washes, scrubs and disinfects rest rooms, cleans windows, door glass, and drinking fountains.
7. Cleans and polishes metal work such as door panels and handrails.
8. Empties and cleans waste containers.
9. Assists in moving or rearranging chairs, tables, desks, furniture, and other equipment.
10. Maintains various classroom and rest room supplies, including towels, soap, tissues, and other sanitary items.
11. May set up, open, and close classrooms and other school facilities for various community activities and services.
12. Maintains equipment used in the course of work.
13. Performs special custodial work as requested.
14. Reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards.
15. Checks and locks doors and windows.
16. Performs refinishing of floors in assigned schools and related district facilities as directed.
17. Replace light bulbs and lighting tubes and makes minor non-technical repairs as needed.
18. Performs other directly related job duties as assigned.
1. Demonstrated experience and training to insure successful performance.
2. Ability to maintain cooperative working relations with those contacted in the course of work and effectively assist department program. Ability to estimate quantity and types of materials and supplies; make non-technical repairs.
3. Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work; requirements for maintaining school buildings and grounds in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
4. Ability to work at ladder heights up to six feet.
5. Ability to speak, read and write English in order to maintain effective communication
6. Ability to pass District physical Class IV examination and maintain physical standards to carry out job requirements.
7. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License.
