
Summary
The Career Development Program (CDP) is a 6-month work experience program where entry-level employees receive case management support upon hire. A CDP specialist pair with participants to address barriers to employment by providing resources from the community. During this time participants are paired with a Career Development Specialist and receive one-on-one support while they navigate and work towards their individual career goals. The specialist will help brainstorm strategies and give advice for the advancement of participants’ objectives. Participants are either kept core with the store and offered the permanent position or are not kept core. In which case, they are supported with job searching efforts by their specialist.

Job Responsibilities
Major responsibilities:
Dedicate efforts toward reducing the drop rate of participants by ensuring that there is support in place for both participant and manager to overcome obstacles that affect the successful performance and longevity of the participant by:
Major duties:
Meets with each participant upon enrollment and monthly. These meetings are to be conducted primarily at the participants’ worksites
Builds supporting relationship with Managers/Supervisors/Leads
Provides support to the participant through counseling, guidance, and resources (includes referrals to service providers)
Provides support to the management by assisting in directing participant to reach job expectations
Provides feedback to Mission Services regarding additional training needs (participant and management)
Strategically manages caseload according to client need and milestones outcome
Monitors performance evaluations and regularly discusses each participant's job readiness progress with his or her manager
Helps with job readiness training (e.g., mock interviews, resumes, cover letters, hygiene)
Coordinate workshops that enhance job readiness
Tracks retention post employment for 365 days through regular follow-up with employer and participant
Distributes retention incentives to eligible participants as per the rules and requirements of the program
Maintains accurate and timely case notes and records changes in contact information
Responsible for writing and submission of all requests from Goodwill International, such as success stories and best practices
Models professional work behaviors at all times for clients
Facilitates employability workshops
Provides support in the scheduling and monitoring of workshop attendance
Maintains confidentiality
Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Proficient in the English language
Two years experience working with individuals with challenges to employment, CDL, excellent driving record, and computer literacy
Bilingual English/Spanish fluency desired
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor’s degree or three years of relevant experience preferred
Equipment Used
Computer, telephone, copy and FAX machines. Zoom and G-Suite experience
preferred.
Working conditions
Works in an office environment
Works a standard workweek with occasional evenings and/or weekends
Occasional local travel to GWSV’s retail stores
Emotional Effort
Moderate: Occasional short deadlines. The work environment is occasionally hectic with occasional high activity, with great emphasis on teamwork.
Physical requirements
The job involves sedentary work which requires lifting no more than 10 lbs and/or occasional lifting and carrying items such as file folders, ledgers and small tools. Much of the work is done while seated; occasional periods of time are spent standing up or walking. The position may entail lifting and carrying items which weigh up to 25lbs.
Pay range
$24.00 - $25.00 per hour
