Reporting to the Dean of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI-B) Initiatives & Program Supervisor will create and build upon existing college-wide DEI-B efforts, work with the college's learning communities (Umoja, Puente, Honors, etc.) and other retention programs and services to create more equitable pathways into and through post-secondary education for historically underprioritized communities.
DEI-B Initiatives & Program Supervisor will lead efforts to promote growth in students and staff as it relates to the college's Strategic Vision for Equity plan. Through curated workshops, trainings, and campus-wide learning opportunities, the position will identify, prioritize, develop, and implement new DEI-B programming that focuses on but not limited to racial identity development, gender expression, power dynamics, organizational change and equity-mindedness.
DEI-B Initiatives & Program Supervisor will also be the operational and fiscal manager over several programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting regular check-ins with program coordinators, managing student assistants, building relationships across campus in support of programmatic goals, writing and submitting end of year reports, conducting program reviews and researching effective practices in higher education in support of student of success objectives. The position is an integral component of the Office of Equity team and will be involved in the development of short- and long-term strategic planning, consult with colleagues on how to navigate complex social issues and facilitating campus-wide discussions that critique dominate social narratives through empathy for the common good.
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide overall direction and guidance in the operations, problem solving, and decision making of an assigned large-scale and complex program. Implement program policies and guidelines; provide for program reporting and accountability; provide work direction and guidance to other program personnel; evaluate assigned personnel; establish and monitor program budgets.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provide overall direction and guidance in the day-to-day operations, problem solving, and decision-making of a large and complex assigned program; implement program policies and directives according to District, federal or state guidelines.
• Interview, select and hire employees; supervise, assign, direct and schedule work activities; explain how duties are to be carried out.
• Evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; effectively communicate how the performance of duties will be measured; recommend promotions and rewards for service.
• Approve monthly time and attendance records and approve requests for time off and additional time worked, including any overtime worked and compensatory time worked/taken.
• Address and resolve a wide variety of concerns and complaints; adjust grievances; recommend transfers and reassignments.
• Counsel employees; address performance problems through corrective disciplinary action; suspend and/or terminate personnel according to established policies and procedures.
• Plan, coordinate and arrange for appropriate training for assigned personnel; develop and initiate departmental activities, orientations and in-services to review policies and procedures of the program, the College and changes on State regulations.
• Prepare funds applications; prepare grant requests, and serve as the primary contact for large programs or multi-programs.
• Plan, coordinate, and prepare a variety of materials used in program literature, marketing, catalogs, and brochures.
• Conduct regular meetings to communicate, review and revise program guidelines.
• Develop, recommend, and implement program plans and objectives; coordinate delivery of services to program participants; assure participation guidelines are followed.
• Assure program expenditures are within allocated budgets; monitor budgets; propose budget changes and participate in project budget applications as necessary.
• Establish appropriate linkages to special populations or community groups served; promote program through participation in advocacy groups, associations and other local, regional or national organizations.
• Provide regular reports to management and federal/state agencies as requested; participate in program reviews; assure program compliance with federal or state program guidelines.
• Serve as liaison between program personnel, participants, clients, administrators, faculty, and students; provide information, program requirements and other pertinent information.
• Develop, coordinate, promote and oversee a broad range of programs.
• Develop workshop materials, promotional materials, and other program documentation.
• Operate a computer and other office equipment as assigned.
• Assist in curriculum planning and development; provide input to faculty and staff regarding program offerings.

• Any combination equivalent to bachelor's degree in a related field AND five (5) years related work experience.
• Proficiency in Student Development and Learning principles.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategies to improve student success of underserved populations.
• Ability to organize and prioritize projects and initiatives in order to maximize resources and create efficiencies.
• Experience leading, presenting, and facilitating workshops on topics related diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Psychology, Educational Leadership, Social Work, or related field.
• Experience working in a higher education, specifically within community colleges.
• Office environment.
