Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will take inventory of existing suppliers that make key inputs for products developed in (client) and make recommendations for changes and develop new supplier base that will improve cost, quality and total value chain performance of (client) product. The Specialist will interface with Designers, QA and other cross-functional team members to plan and establish strong qualified supplier base for development, NPI and volume production of (client) products. The Specialist will also collaborate with Designers and NPI Engineers to maintain existing BOM and drawing data while evaluating performances of all key vendors.


Responsibilities include:
• Evaluate current set of “Make” commodity suppliers and identify opportunities for cost reductions and or Supply Chain improvements through identifying and qualifying new suppliers
• Work with QA and cross-functional team to identify and rate our key suppliers on their performance and improvement plans and compliance
• Work with design Engineering and Supply Chain to implement ECO’s with suppliers
• Maintain strong adherence within organization to Product Lifecycle management and revision control policies
• Drive updates to mechanical drawings and adherence to company standard
• Identify opportunities for cost reductions and or Supply Chain improvements through identifying and qualifying new supplier
• Work with finance to update product costing based on changes from ECO or New product introductions


Requirements
• B.S./M.S. Mechanical Engineering (M.S. preferred)
• Minimum 7 years’ experience working with contract manufacturing in the Electronics Capital equipment design or manufacturing
• Experience working with Supply Chain modules and structuring BOMs in ERP systems, and Product Lifecycle Management tools
• Working with and leading design teams in DFM processing
• Experience with formal root cause analysis, and analytical data driven analysis
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work within matrixed organization
• Proficient in Solidworks (or equivalent 3d CAD application), Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project, ERP (Oracle), and other applications.
