Job Description

Johnson Service Group is seeking a Project Manager for one of our government entities in the Silicon Valley for a temporary assignment with a possibility to convert to full time.

This position will assist with all aspects of project management throughout the process areas (Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Control, Closing) as needed for each of the above listed projects. The Project Manager is expected to manage requirements gathering, procurement, contract negotiations, system requirements validation, system configuration, system implementation, and transition to post-implementation support.

The candidate will manage the following Projects:

1. Public Safety laptops/Mobile data terminals (MDTs): Manage deployment of MDTs and accessories

2. Co-location of data center Phase 2: Manage project to co-locate IT Infrastructure components for maintaining standards and levels of reliability of IT services such as physical security for servers, storage, and networking equipment

3. Windows 10 Operating System upgrade: Ensure applications currently in use throughout the City are compatible with the Windows 10 Operating System

4. Window 2012/2016 server migration/upgrade: Project to upgrade server operating system to 2012/2016

5. Public Safety alarm permitting system: Project implementation; This system to will manage resident/property false alarms and billing, as well as provide a mechanism to proactively manage and track alarm permits

The Project Manager will be expected  Proven work experience as a project manager implementing multiple technology projects

• Strong understanding of technology infrastructure, security concepts, and multiple platforms

• Experience with project plan preparation, from high level to technical details level, plan and estimate milestones/activities (effort/duration) and identify role/skillset per activity (system, OS, middleware)

• Infrastructure project management experience (Public Safety, Public Works, Disaster Recovery, Security, monitoring)

• Strong understanding of SLDC and products lifecycle

• Knowledge of appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs

• Ability to measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques

• Experience managing relationships with clients and all stakeholders

• Ability to coordinate and manage resources in a matrix environment

• Ability to effectively perform risk management to minimize project risks

• Ability to manage a clear and concise communication plan, including status reporting in written and oral form

• Ability to translate between technical requirements and user friendly business requirements

• Ability to provide guidance and direction on change management, as well as managing activities related to system adoption and organizational change

• Ability to effectively manage the project budget and scope creep

• Ability to maintain relationships with third-parties/vendors

• Ability to provide guidance and ideas for best practices on Infrastructure projects

• Coordinate and manage management-level personnel, if and when they are assigned

• Four-year degree, preferably in the fields of computer science, management information systems, or engineering

 

Additional Skills/Experience (preferred)

• Solid functional knowledge of municipal agency operations

• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for presenting to both internal and external clients

• Ability to keep staff motivated and focused on project goals

• Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project

• Experience at working as a leader and collaborator in a team-oriented environment is essential

• Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and

• Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently

• Flexible during times of change

• Ability to read communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines

• Exceptional understanding of the Solution Lifecycle (SDLC) and associated tools (e.g., MS Project, Clarity, etc.)

• Ability to manage relationships with internal team members, outside contractors and the customer stakeholders and end users
