The Environmental Services Department provides comprehensive and innovative utility services for Sunnyvale's residents and businesses and facilitates initiatives to achieve the City's sustainability objectives. The department brings together technical, operational, and administrative professional disciplines to form its dedicated and dynamic team. We are currently recruiting for an Environmental Engineering Coordinator to join the City's Sustainability Program. This position presents an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to play a key leadership role in advancing Sunnyvale's local efforts to address climate change. The City's recently adopted Climate Action Playbook (CAP) is a framework for developing bold policies, creating engaging programs, and achieving ambitious greenhouse gas emissions reductions. This position has the unique opportunity to shape those efforts and have a meaningful impact on the local community. The Environmental Engineering Coordinator for Sustainability Programs is primarily responsible for implementing and monitoring the CAP. This includes: developing new programs or continuing the implementation of existing programs to reduce emissions; monitoring and reporting CAP implementation progress; preparing greenhouse gas emissions inventories; conducting research and technical analyses for new programs or policies; and leading community engagement initiatives to encourage climate actions. We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and creative individual with strong quantitative and analytical skills, impeccable written and verbal communication skills, and a solid understanding of environmental science and policies to help take our City's sustainability programs to the next level!
